DESIGN FOR A BETTER

tomorrow

TOMORROW is an eco-design think tank, advocating disruption and change to the current system of design, fashion & production.

we offer alternatives, redefining and redesigning life for the new era; where the future is explored and discussed through editorials and listings of design pioneers, online workshops, podcasts, panel discussions, screening of documentaries, listing of inspirational books and publications.

TOMORROW is an extension of FUTURE FASHION LAB, sustainable fashion festival funded by Design Trust.

this shift to the virtual world is also an elevation, extending the area from fashion to design and art, it is still an attempt to challenge the culture of consumption at the heart of the global ecological crisis. it is an attempt to address the tension between the market's demand for endless growth and the planet's need for a break.

we believe that design has the power and responsibility to conserve and restore the environment and value people over growth and profit.

TODAY

2017-2020

TOMORROW was founded by fashion designer turned Green Artivist, Kay Wong.

after a decade of flogging collections on the international fashion scene, a personal loss forced kay to take a breath from the relentless speed and insatiable appetite of the fashion industry, and reflect on what she was actually chasing.

an opportunity to start afresh came when kay won the young design talent award in 2015. this took her to copenhagen for a year, where she worked with fashion designer, henrik vibskov, and immersed herself in the sustainable arts and design scene of europe. this creative soul-searching brought her face-to-face with the humanitarian and environmental horrors of the fashion industry.

no longer wanting to be adding to the world’s landfills, kay started a personal ‘no new clothes’ campaign, and began creating a series of thought-provoking, zero-waste artwork.

she also co-founded fashion clinic, empowering people to ‘repair, reshape, redesign, and re-experience fashion’ through upcycling services and education.

today, kay has her own upcycled fashion line, and her eco-design work ranges from brand collaborations to the theatre arts. she regularly delivers sustainability talks and workshops for organisations such as greenpeace, friends of the earth, redress, future fashion lab and wwf.

YESTERDAY

2007-2016

TOMORROW is an evolution of international fashion-arts label Daydream Nation.

founded in 2006 by sister-brother duo, kay and jing wong, daydream nation was known for weaving story and theatre into their collections, bringing magic to fashion weeks with their whimsical designs and performances.

over 10 years, daydream nation sold to 80 shops around the world; dressed international celebrities such as ke$ha and juliette binoche; collaborated with a range of brands including peter jensen, shangri-la, the old curiosity shop and urban outfitters; and even caught the eye of chanel, whom selected pieces from their aw09 collection to inspire karl lagerfeld's work.

kay's work with daydream nation was recognised with awards such as vogue Italia’s ‘vogue talent 2010’; hong kong’s ten outstanding designers award 2009, 2011; perspective/cierre Italia’s ‘40 under 40’ design award, 2009; and white milan’s ‘womenswear inside white award’, 2008.
